Portsoy Links Caravan Park

Portsoy Links Caravan Park sits beside a sandy beach on the Moray Firth, combining a small coastal campsite with the convenience of staying in a historic fishing town. Its touring pitches accommodate campervans and tents, with 13 sea-front pitches looking out towards the water. The beach is directly off the site, with opportunities for wild swimming and watersports when conditions allow. Practical facilities include toilets, showers, a laundrette and a washing-up area. Dogs are welcome, the park opens all year, and booking is available online.

Portsoy’s shops, pubs and restaurants are a short walk away, as is the old harbour, completed in 1693. Its distinctive horizontal stonework makes it worth a closer look, while the adjoining new harbour dates from 1825, when it was built to serve the herring fleet. The town’s maritime history is explored at the Salmon Bothy museum, where displays cover salmon fishing, boatbuilding and local life in the former ice chambers.

For walks without committing to a long excursion, Portsoy has mapped circuits around the harbour and bay, alongside cliff paths east and west of town. Several routes pass the caravan park, though their described starting point is the old harbour. These offer ways to explore beyond the beach and see more of the coastline. Glenglassaugh, the closest whisky distillery to the campsite, stands at the edge of Sandend Bay.
