Strathlene Caravan Park

Strathlene Caravan Park is a small site in Portessie, on the eastern side of Buckie, welcoming caravans, campervans and tents. Toilets and showers are available, dogs are welcome, and the season runs from 1 April to 31 October. Shops, pubs and restaurants are a short walk away in the village, making it practical to leave the cooking gear packed for an evening. A golf course sits next to the park, while a small pebble beach lies across the road.

This stretch of the Moray coast rewards exploration on foot. The Moray Coast Trail passes through Buckie and follows the clifftops east towards Findochty, where colourful houses gather around the harbour. Choose a section of the trail for a coastal outing rather than committing to the whole route. Further east, Portknockie’s Bow Fiddle Rock is a distinctive natural sea arch, while Cullen’s former railway viaduct carries walkers above the town with views towards its shore and beach. These are places to explore along the wider coast, rather than facilities within the park.

For a change from the shoreline, head inland to Keith and Strathisla Distillery, the home of Chivas. Keith also has independent shops and cafés along historic Mid Street, the old stone Auld Brig over the River Isla, and river and woodland paths that offer a different setting from the coastal walks around Buckie.
