Findochty Caravan Park
Quick Read Campsite Summary
Findochty Caravan Park is a small, family-run site looking out over the Moray Firth on Scotland’s north-east coast. There are 25 campervan pitches and an area for tents, with dogs welcome. The toilet and shower block also houses laundry and washing-up facilities, covering the practical needs of a coastal camping stay. The park opens from 1 March to 31 October, with bookings taken by telephone.
A short walk takes you into Findochty, an old fishing village where brightly coloured houses gather around the harbour. Its distinctive terraces and sheltered basin give it a character quite different from the larger working port of Buckie farther west. A local pub, golf course and bowling green add options close to the campsite, while the surrounding coast offers opportunities for birdwatching and watching for dolphins and porpoises, without any guarantee of sightings.
For exploring on foot, the Moray Coast Trail links Findochty with Buckie to the west and Portknockie and Cullen to the east. Choose a section rather than committing to the whole long-distance route: this stretch combines former fishing settlements with clifftop paths and rocky shorelines. At Portknockie, Bow Fiddle Rock is a distinctive natural sea arch visible from the coast. Continuing towards Cullen brings a different perspective, with the trail following the old railway over the town’s viaduct and looking across the houses towards the beach.
