Sandend Caravan Park

Sandend Caravan Park is a small, dog-friendly campsite beside a golden sandy bay on the Banffshire coast, welcoming tents and campervans. Toilets and showers cover the essentials, and the season runs from 1 April to 31 October. Its beachside setting makes the shore a natural focus for a stay, while the historic fishing village of Sandend can be explored on foot from the site.

For time on the water, Suds Surf School operates at Sandend beach, offering surfing and stand-up paddleboarding lessons alongside equipment hire. These are beach-based activities rather than campsite facilities, with options for beginners as well as more experienced participants. Glenglassaugh Distillery is also within walking distance of the park. Tours and tastings need planning ahead: visits are strictly by private appointment, and the distillery does not accept walk-in visitors.

For a coastal outing, Findlater Castle stands on a rocky promontory between Sandend and Cullen. A path from the car park near Barnyards of Findlater leads towards a viewpoint over the ruins; the masonry is unstable and the surrounding paths require care, so this is somewhere to admire from a safe distance rather than explore inside. Cullen offers a different sort of walk, with former railway viaducts converted into walking trails above the town, plus a sandy beach and links golf course. It is also the home of Cullen skink, giving a visit a distinctly local lunch option.
