Turriff Caravan Park

Turriff Caravan Park is a community-run site with the practical advantage of being a short walk from Turriff’s shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés. It welcomes touring caravans, campervans and tents, with hardstanding touring pitches and a grass camping area; tent pitches do not have electric hook-up. Dogs are welcome, and everyday facilities include a toilet and shower block, washing-up area and laundry facilities. The town’s indoor swimming pool is also within walking distance, offering an alternative to outdoor exploring.

There is local character to discover without making a full day’s excursion. On Turriff’s High Street, the Turra Coo sculpture is a distinctive town landmark, while golfers have an 18-hole course at Turriff Golf Club. For a historical outing, Delgatie Castle offers interiors with painted ceilings dating from 1575, as well as the Laird’s Kitchen tearoom. It makes a useful option for combining a castle visit with lunch or afternoon tea.

Fyvie Castle, eight miles south-east of Turriff, combines Scottish Baronial architecture with gardens and a lochside walk. The circular route around Fyvie Lake is approximately 1¼ miles long, giving visitors a clearly defined walk within the estate rather than a lengthy countryside expedition. Although generally even, the track narrows in places and can have mud, stones and tree roots underfoot. Inside the castle, collections of armour, antiquities and oil paintings add another dimension to the visit.
