Huntly Castle Caravan Park
Quick Read Campsite Summary
Huntly Castle Caravan Park occupies 15 acres of landscaped grounds close to the River Deveron and Huntly Castle, with the town centre around a ten-minute walk away. Its setting combines a spacious camping area with straightforward access to shops, cafés, restaurants and a pub. Huntly also has a railway station with services towards Aberdeen and Inverness, useful for outings beyond the town.
Campervans have 66 fully serviced pitches, mostly on hardstanding with some on grass, while tents have a large, level camping area with a limited number of electric hook-ups. Two toilet blocks include private washing and family shower cubicles, alongside drying facilities. There are also two dishwashing areas and a fully equipped laundry. For tent campers in particular, the cooking shelter and designated barbecue area offer a practical alternative to preparing meals in the open. Dogs are welcome, and online booking is available.
The neighbouring castle gives the setting its historical character: once a Gordon stronghold, its surviving buildings trace the development from medieval fortification to an elaborate Jacobean palace, with heraldic carving and inscriptions among its distinctive details. Whisky enthusiasts can also explore GlenDronach in the Valley of Forgue, established in 1826. Its distillery experiences include tours of the production buildings and a traditional dunnage warehouse, with tastings explaining the influence of sherry-cask maturation; touring guests must be aged 18 or over.
