Glen Nevis Caravan & Camping Park sits among trees and open grassland in the mountain glen above Fort William, with Ben Nevis rising close by and a river running beside the site. Its position near the start of the Ben Nevis Mountain Trail gives it an obvious appeal for hillwalkers, while the combination of woodland, water and surrounding mountains makes the setting a substantial part of its character.

Tents and campervans are welcome, with serviced, electric and non-electric pitches, including an open-field tent area without pitch services. Glamping pods offer an alternative to bringing your own accommodation. Communal toilets and showers are available, dogs are permitted, and stays can be booked online. Glen Nevis Restaurant is a short walk away for a meal or a pint after a day outdoors. Fort William, a short drive from the park, has further pubs, restaurants and shops for stocking up.

There is more to exploring the glen than tackling Britain’s highest mountain. Further up Glen Nevis, the walk to Steall Falls begins at the road-end car park and passes through the Nevis Gorge before emerging into an open meadow beneath the waterfall. Although considerably shorter than a mountain ascent, its rocky path and steep drops demand care and suitable footwear. For a change from walking, the West Highland Museum on Cameron Square in Fort William offers an introduction to Highland life and the region’s Jacobite history.
