Bunroy Park Campsite

At Roy Bridge, Bunroy Park Campsite occupies a riverside setting on the banks of the Spean, with trees around the grounds and mountains framing the surrounding landscape. Tent campers have three flat grass fields, while campervans have hardstanding pitches with electric hook-up. Glamping pods offer an alternative to bringing your own camping accommodation. Practical facilities include toilets, showers, a laundry room and a drying room, useful for dealing with wet walking clothes and outdoor kit. Dogs are welcome, and online booking is available.

Roy Bridge railway station and The Stronlossit Inn are a short walk from the site, giving campers access to rail travel and somewhere to head for a meal or drink without driving. Fort William is a short drive away for shops and cafés, with Ben Nevis Distillery another option for an outing. The combination of village amenities and a riverside setting gives Bunroy a different character from a town-centre stopover.

For mountain scenery without a summit ascent, the Nevis Range gondola climbs the slopes of Aonach Mòr—not Ben Nevis—to a top station at 650 metres. Viewpoint walks lead from the upper station, although gondola operation depends on the weather. Glenfinnan offers a contrasting day out: its 21-arched viaduct carries the railway towards Mallaig and is recognisable from the Harry Potter films. Paths around the viaduct and monument can be combined into a four-kilometre circuit, with views across Loch Shiel; sections have steps and can be slippery.
