Glen Spean Camping

Glen Spean Camping is a family-run site on the edge of Spean Bridge, with an elevated, open-field setting looking across trees towards the Grey Corries. It has a semi-wild character, welcoming tents and campervans alongside furnished bell tents for those travelling without their own camping equipment. Campfires and barbecues are permitted, and the Glen Spean Brewing Co is just 50 metres away, giving locally brewed beer a particularly local meaning.

Facilities include both composting and plumbed-in toilets, plus hot showers. Dogs are welcome, and Spean Bridge has a railway station, shop, café, pub and restaurant. Campervan stays can be arranged by telephone or email; tent campers do not need to pre-book. The combination of straightforward facilities, mountain views and space for a fire is central to the site’s appeal, whether you are spending several days exploring Lochaber or pausing on a longer Highland journey.

For a walk combining woodland, riverside scenery and local history, a route from Spean Bridge village follows the River Spean and sections of former railway trackbed towards the ruined High Bridge and the Commando Memorial. Interpretation boards explain the old railway and the bridge’s connection with the 1745 Jacobite rising; this is a village-based outing rather than a route confirmed to start at the campsite. The memorial honours Commandos who died in the Second World War and later conflicts, offering a more reflective excursion alongside the area’s mountain walking.
