Faichemard Farm Campsite

Faichemard Farm Campsite is an adults-only site in a woodland setting near Invergarry, between Fort William and Inverness. Its 35 individual pitches are spread across ten acres, giving the layout a more varied character than uniform rows of touring pitches. Most are hardstanding, with grass pitches also available for tents and electric hook-ups on some pitches. Campervans and dogs are welcome, and practical facilities include toilets and showers. Invergarry village is a short drive away, with basic provisions available at the petrol station shop. For walking, Glengarry Forest offers two trails exploring the River Garry and woodland containing remnants of ancient Caledonian pine. These are outings in the surrounding area rather than routes that need to begin at the campsite; the forest’s riverside setting provides a useful contrast to higher hill walks. Red squirrels, pine martens and Scottish crossbills are among the species associated with the forest, though sightings are never assured.

Fort Augustus, seven miles from the campsite, makes another worthwhile excursion. The village sits at the southern end of Loch Ness, where the Caledonian Canal’s flight of locks provides a focus for a stroll and the chance to watch passing boats when the canal is operating. The Caledonian Canal Centre adds historical context to the waterway, while the village offers a wider choice of places to eat and drink.
