Achindarroch Touring Park

Achindarroch Touring Park is a small, family-run campsite at the foot of Glen Duror, south of Ballachulish on Lochaber’s southern boundary. It welcomes campervans and tents, with 40 large campervan pitches, 37 of them with electrical hook-up, alongside two glamping pods. Shared facilities include toilets, showers and washing-up areas, and dogs are welcome. The combination of touring pitches, tent camping and pods gives visitors several ways to stay while exploring this part of the west Highlands.

Glen Duror gives the area a distinct woodland character, with forestry covering the glen floor and extending up its steep sides. Walking options in Duror forest include a path to James o’ the Glen Bothy, while informal routes link towards Glen Creran and Glenachulish. These are routes within the surrounding forest rather than waymarked walks beginning at the campsite. The landscape includes commercial conifers, pockets of native woodland and open ground on the lower slopes of Beinn a’ Bheithir.

For cyclists, the Caledonia Way offers another way to explore the wider area. Much of its Oban–Ballachulish section follows the former railway from Connel to the Ballachulish slate quarries, with largely flat stretches and coastal views. The wider Oban–Fort William section combines substantial traffic-free stretches with some road riding, so it is worth choosing an outing to suit your confidence rather than assuming the whole route is separated from traffic.
