Grantown on Spey Caravan Park
Quick Read Campsite Summary
Grantown on Spey Caravan Park combines a town setting with access to the walking country of Strathspey. Grantown’s shops, pubs and restaurants are a short walk away, making it practical to eat out or pick up supplies without taking the campervan. The park welcomes campervans and small tents, with grass and hardstanding pitches, electric hook-up for campervans and glamping pods for those travelling without camping equipment. Dogs are welcome. Toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a shop selling essentials cover the everyday needs of a stay. The park opens all year, although tent camping is not available from January to March; booking is available online.
For woodland walks, Anagach Woods occupies the ground between Grantown’s town centre and the River Spey. This community-owned pinewood has several miles of marked trails, with Scots pine, birch, juniper and rowan giving the paths a varied woodland setting. It is also an important habitat for capercaillie, so exploring here calls for care around wildlife rather than an expectation of sightings. The marked trail network offers an alternative to planning a mountain outing.
Whisky visitors can explore The Cairn Distillery at Craggan, Grantown-on-Spey. Its tours introduce the production process and whisky maturation, while The Gathering serves tapas-style dishes. Tours are restricted to visitors aged 18 and over. The distillery grounds also have trails leading towards the banks of the Spey, adding a riverside walk to a distillery visit.
