Ace Adventures & Hideaways

Ace Adventures & Hideaways is a small woodland campsite in the Forres area of Moray, with a semi-wild character and ten tent pitches, each with its own fire pit. Toilets and showers provide practical comforts without losing the emphasis on camping among the trees. Glamping accommodation, including pods, offers an alternative to bringing your own tent, and dogs are welcome. Campervans can be accommodated, but pitches are small and limited, so you must telephone ahead to discuss suitability.

White-water rafting through the associated adventure centre gives a stay here a distinct outdoor focus, with trips on the River Findhorn. For exploring the valley on foot, Logie Steading has riverside routes towards Sluie and Randolph’s Leap. These paths require care: some sections run above steep, unfenced drops, and stout footwear is recommended. The steading itself brings together independent shops, a bookshop, a café and Logie House Garden, making it a useful destination for a less strenuous outing.

The Moray coast adds another landscape to explore during a stay. At Culbin, between Nairn and Findhorn Bay, gravel tracks thread through pinewoods growing over old sand dunes. The Hill 99 Trail leads from Wellhill car park to a viewing tower overlooking the forest towards the coast, while the shorter Gravel Pit Ponds Trail explores woodland and ponds. These are outings away from the campsite rather than routes starting at your pitch.
