Glenmore Campsite

Glenmore Campsite occupies a woodland setting beside Loch Morlich, at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains outside Aviemore. This large campsite welcomes tents and campervans, with grass and hardstanding pitches, electric hook-ups, toilets and showers. Dogs are welcome, and the site is open all year with online booking available. Its character comes from the combination of forest, freshwater beach and mountain surroundings, with everyday facilities close at hand.

A short walk through the trees brings you to Loch Morlich’s golden sands, where there is a watersports rental centre and café. The beach gives a stay here a different feel from a purely mountain campsite, with scope for spending time beside the water between outings into the hills. The Pine Marten Bar is a short walk from the campsite entrance, while Aviemore has shops, cafés, restaurants and bars for supplies or an evening out.

For woodland walking, the Beach Trail passes through mixed forest beside the Allt Mor burn and Loch Morlich’s sands. The longer Loch Morlich Trail makes a circuit through the surrounding woodland, offering mountain views along the way. These are forest-park routes rather than walks specifically starting at the campsite. Another distinctive Glenmore attraction is the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre: its guided hill trips involve walking over rough ground to visit the herd on the mountainside, making this a more active outing than a conventional animal-park visit.
