Tobermory Campsite

Tobermory Campsite is a small site on the Isle of Mull, with open grassy camping areas and pitches beside a small burn sheltered by trees. Tents and campervans are welcome, with hardstanding pitches for vehicles up to seven metres long and electric hook-up available for campervans. There are also glamping pods, and dogs are welcome. Two toilet and shower blocks serve the site, while a shared wooden shelter has seating, electric kettles and sockets, all free to use: a useful retreat when a rain shower passes through.

Tobermory town is around a leisurely 25-minute walk downhill, though the uphill return calls for more effort. Its colourful harbourfront has shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, with a Co-op for provisions. Tobermory Distillery offers tours and tastings, which should be booked ahead, while its visitor centre can be visited without a reservation. The combination of campsite space and access to town makes it possible to spend an evening eating out without taking the campervan.

For a change from the harbour, Aros Park has woodland trails, ferns and waterfalls, with viewpoints looking towards Tobermory and across the Sound of Mull to Ardnamurchan. Another walking option from town follows the coast towards Rubha nan Gall Lighthouse; neither route should be confused with a path starting at the campsite. Visitors arriving without a vehicle can travel by ferry from Oban to Craignure and continue by bus to Tobermory, but should check connections carefully, as buses do not meet every sailing.
