Inver Mill Farm Camping & Caravan Site
Quick Read Campsite Summary
Family-run since 1956, Inver Mill Farm Camping & Caravan Site combines a riverside setting with a short walk into historic Dunkeld. It welcomes tents and campervans, with a mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches and electric hook-up available. Dogs are welcome too. The practical facilities include toilets, showers, laundry and washing-up facilities, making this an option for campers wanting more than a basic field. Booking arrangements differ: campervan pitches can be booked online, while tent pitches cannot be reserved and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis on the day.
Dunkeld’s cafés, pubs, riverside bars and restaurants give visitors options for eating out without taking the vehicle. The cathedral is a worthwhile focus for exploring the town’s history: its earliest surviving section dates from the late 13th century, and the former choir remains a parish church. The roofless western section is currently closed for conservation, although the grounds beside the River Tay remain open.
For a woodland outing, The Hermitage offers paths beside the River Braan beneath towering Douglas firs. This designed landscape was created as an 18th-century pleasure ground for the Dukes of Atholl, rather than being simply an untouched stretch of forest. Its focal point is Ossian’s Hall, a folly overlooking Black Linn Falls, where the river plunges into pools below. It makes a distinctive contrast to a day spent wandering Dunkeld’s streets and cathedral grounds.
