Craidawn Campsite

Craidawn Campsite is a small, quiet, family-run site on the outskirts of Blairgowrie, with a limited number of pitches for tents and campervans. Its open-field setting and semi-wild character suit campers who prefer straightforward facilities rather than a large holiday park. There is a toilet, a single shower unit and electric hook-up if required. The opening season runs from March to October.

Access is off the A93 via Bonnington Road, at Applebog Steadings. On arrival, campers are asked to park at the gate and telephone the owners to gain entry. Blairgowrie town centre is around a 25-minute walk away, putting shops, pubs and restaurants within reach on foot. There is also a bus stop at the end of the road with services into the centre, useful for leaving the campervan on its pitch.

For a longer outing, Blairgowrie is the starting and finishing point of the Cateran Trail, a 64-mile waymarked route through the Perthshire and Angus glens. Following old drove roads and tracks across farmland, woodland and moorland, it offers a more substantial walking project than a casual town stroll. The traditional approach heads from Blairgowrie towards Bridge of Cally before joining the main circuit; visitors need not tackle the entire trail to explore part of this historic cattle-raiding country.
