Forth House Caravan Site

Forth House Caravan Site is a small, quiet, adults-only campsite in the countryside at Newburn, by Upper Largo in Fife. Its roughly four-acre setting sits around 170 metres above sea level, with views across the Firth of Forth towards Edinburgh and beyond. Low levels of light pollution make stargazing an appealing prospect on clear nights. Campervans have hardstanding pitches, while tents occupy an open grass area, with electric hook-up available. Toilets and showers are on site, dogs are welcome, and bookings can be made online. The season runs from April to November.

St Andrews is a short drive away, offering a contrast to the site’s rural surroundings. Its ruined cathedral, historic university buildings and golfing heritage give plenty of reasons to spend a day exploring the town. West Sands offers another option for time beside the sea. Inland, the Fife Folk Museum in Ceres explores the domestic, social and working lives of local people, housed in historic buildings in the village centre.

For a walking day, head to the coast rather than expecting a waymarked route from the campsite. The Fife Coastal Path passes through Leven, Lundin Links and Lower Largo, continuing east towards Shell Bay and Elie. Around Lower Largo, the route follows stretches of coastline and an abandoned railway, with beach and inland alternatives affected by the tide. This gives visitors a specific stretch of Fife’s shore to explore, alongside the towns and golf courses inland.
