Loch Ken Holiday Park

Loch Ken Holiday Park at Parton combines a spacious grass camping area with a lochside setting in Dumfries and Galloway. The water is a central part of a stay here, with watersports equipment available to hire on site, including single and double kayaks and rowing boats. There is also sheltered dishwashing space, a laundry and children’s play areas, making this an equipped holiday park rather than a back-to-basics camping spot. For an outing away from Loch Ken, Clatteringshaws in Galloway Forest Park offers a different lochside landscape, with open views towards the Galloway Hills. The Bruce’s Stone Trail follows the shore through mature woodland to a granite boulder associated with Robert the Bruce. The one-mile route has a firm gravel surface, loose stones in places and short moderate slopes, giving visitors a useful alternative to a longer hill walk. Clatteringshaws is also within the Galloway Dark Sky Park, so a return visit after dark can offer stargazing when skies are clear; this is a separate excursion, not a guaranteed experience from your pitch.
