Mossyard Caravan & Camping Site

Mossyard Caravan & Camping Site occupies a coastal setting on a working family farm overlooking Fleet Bay in Dumfries & Galloway, with direct access to sandy beaches. Its two camping fields have distinct characters: the upper field overlooks the bay and is closer to the showers and laundry at the farm steading, while the lower field sits beside the sea, with additional toilets and dishwashing facilities. The pitching areas accommodate tents, touring caravans and campervans.

Dogs are welcome, and the combination of farmland and shoreline gives Mossyard a rural, seaside character. Campfires are permitted on the beach rather than within the camping fields, with visitors expected to clear up afterwards. Gather restaurant is a short walk away, offering an alternative to cooking at your pitch; its outdoor area also serves drinks and snacks.

For an outing away from the shore, Cally Woods on the edge of Gatehouse of Fleet offers a contrasting woodland landscape. Once part of the grounds of Cally House, the woods contain oak, birch, sycamore and beech, with seasonal snowdrops and bluebells and the possibility of spotting red squirrels or treecreepers. Cardoness Castle, also at Gatehouse of Fleet, adds a historic stop: visitors can explore its grounds and visitor centre during opening hours, although the tower’s interior is currently closed for conservation work.
