Huisinis Campervan Site

Huisinis Campervan Site is a small coastal stopover beside Huisinis beach in North Harris, with a simple, semi-wild character. It welcomes campervans and dogs, opens year-round and operates without pre-booking. The stopover is free to use, with a £3 charge for water from a dispensing machine, and there is a toilet and shower block. Its beachside setting makes it an option for visitors interested in shore walks and exploring the local hills.

The approach is part of its character: a winding single-track road passes Amhuinnsuidhe Castle and crosses a landscape of exposed rock and sheltered bays before reaching Huisinis. Allow for careful driving and passing traffic rather than treating this as a quick detour. Huisinis also features on the Hebridean Whale Trail, with opportunities to watch for seals from the beach and harbour porpoises farther offshore, though sightings are never assured.

For a more substantial walk, the five-mile Crabhadail circuit begins at Huisinis and links Tràigh Mheilein, Loch na Cleabhaig and Crabhadail beach, with views towards the island of Scarp. Steep, eroded sections and stretches without a clear path mean it needs more preparation than a beach stroll, including a map and suitable footwear.
