Glenbrittle Campsite & Café sits beside the sandy shore of Loch Brittle on Skye’s west coast, with the Cuillin mountains rising behind it. The combination of beach and mountain terrain gives the site its distinctive character: a coastal camping spot with access to the landscapes that draw walkers and climbers to this part of the island. It welcomes tents, campervans and dogs, with grass and hardstanding pitches, electric hook-ups, toilets and showers.

The on-site café adds a useful comfort to a stay here, with freshly baked bread and croissants available to order for breakfast. Beach walks offer a less demanding alternative to a day in the hills, while the shore provides opportunities for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding when conditions are suitable. Fires are not permitted within the campsite, although they are allowed on the beach; barbecues must be raised off the grass.

For an outing elsewhere in Glen Brittle, the Fairy Pools walking route follows a burn through a succession of pools and waterfalls beneath the Cuillin. It begins at the dedicated Fairy Pools car park rather than at the campsite, and the popular first section can be busy in peak season. A longer circuit continues around Coire na Creiche for those wanting to extend the walk. Talisker Distillery, in Carbost on the shore of Loch Harport, offers a different focus for a day out, with whisky tours and tastings; checking the available experiences and booking ahead is advisable, particularly in summer.

Award winning campsite located on the Isle of Skye and voted best campsite in the UK by the Daily Telegraph and best coastal campsite from The Great Outdoor magazine and it is easy to see why. The campsite sits on the stunning Loch Brittle beach where wild swimming and water sports are possible and it is shadowed by the dramatic Cuillin mountains behind which are excellent for hikers and mountain climbers. The site has 120 pitches on a mixture of hard standing and grass, a toilet and shower block, electrical hook up and onsite café. From the café you can order freshly baked bread and croissants to enjoy each morning whilst you soak in the views from your pitch. Fires are not permitted within the campsite however are permitted on the beach, BBQ’s must be on raised surface to prevent damage to the grass. Locally you will find the Cuillin mountains, fairy pools and a raft of coastal and inland walking trails. For whisky drinkers, the closest distillery would be Talisker which is 9 miles north of the site where you can join one of the daily tours (book a tour in advanced during summer months).
