Carry Farm Eco Camping

Carry Farm Eco Camping is a small, tent-only campsite with a semi-wild character and a distinctive condition: campers must arrive without a car. Walking, cycling, kayaking, sailing or taking public transport followed by a walk are all in keeping with its low-impact approach. On the Ardlamont peninsula near Tighnabruaich, the farm occupies a coastal setting beside the Kyles of Bute, looking across the water towards the island of Bute.

Pitches are by the shore, where waves on the pebbles and coastal birds give camping its soundtrack. Toilets, showers, washing and laundry facilities are a short walk away, offering practical comforts without losing the simple feel. Dogs are welcome and campfires are permitted. There is also an on-site coffee shop serving locally roasted coffee, a textile shop and a sailing school offering lessons. Low light pollution makes clear nights worth watching, but a torch is important for finding your way to the toilet block after dark. Camping enquiries can be made by email.

For an outing beyond the farm, Kilbride Bay, also known as Ostel Bay, is around three miles away. Its broad crescent of sand offers a different shoreline to explore, with dunes behind it and Arran on the horizon. The established approach follows a track beside Kilbride Farm before continuing towards the dunes and beach; it should not be confused with a waymarked route from the campsite.
