Glendaruel Caravan Park

Glendaruel Caravan Park sits in the heart of the Cowal Peninsula, close to the Kyles of Bute, with open grass pitches for small tents and hardstanding for campervans, with electric hook-up available. Tourers are welcome, and glamping pods offer an alternative to bringing your own accommodation. Toilets, showers, laundry facilities and a washing-up area cover the practical essentials, while dogs are welcome too. Pitches must be booked in advance through the park’s website. With woodland and local walks to explore, this is a rural setting where red squirrels are among the wildlife to look out for.

The Loch Lomond & Cowal Way passes close to the park, with a connecting footpath described in the route guide. Its Tighnabruaich–Glendaruel stage runs for 11 miles, combining quiet roads and tracks with shoreline and woodland walking. It is worth planning rather than treating as an easy stroll: part of the woodland section is steep and rough. Along the way are Telford bridges, the historic Lucknow Gates and stretches beside the Kyles of Bute.

For a more focused local outing, Kilmodan Sculptured Stones at Clachan of Glendaruel reward a closer look. The late-medieval slabs carry intricate plant patterns, swords, tools and animals, including a unicorn. Tighnabruaich offers a different pace, with shops, cafés and a wooden pier along the waterfront beside the Kyles—a coastal contrast to time spent in the glen.
