Carradale Bay Caravan Park

Carradale Bay Caravan Park puts the beach at the centre of a stay on Kintyre, with golden sand beside the pitches and an outlook towards Arran. This family-run site welcomes tents and campervans, including pitches along the beachfront, and has a communal toilet and shower block. Dogs are welcome too. The setting lends itself to days spent between the tent or van and the shore, whether for beach walks or simply sitting beside the water.

Beyond the sand, Carradale Forest offers a more demanding walking option. The waymarked Deer Hill Trail climbs through woodland and open moorland to Cnoc nan Gabhar, with views across Carradale Bay, Kilbrannan Sound and Arran. It is a strenuous 3¾-mile route with prolonged steep slopes and rough, sometimes muddy sections, rather than a gentle woodland stroll. The trail starts at Port na Storm car park, not at the campsite. Carradale also lies on the Kintyre Way, giving walkers scope to explore sections of the peninsula’s long-distance route.

For a change from coastal and forest walks, Campbeltown offers a focus on Kintyre’s whisky heritage, including Springbank Distillery, founded in 1828.
