Quick Read Campsite Summary

Machrihanish Holiday Park brings camping, beach walks and links golf together on the Kintyre peninsula. This small site welcomes tents and campervans, with grass and hardstanding pitches and a choice of electric or non-electric options. A communal toilet and shower block serves campers, dogs are welcome, and bookings can be made online. Glamping pods offer an alternative to bringing your own camping kit, with hot-tub accommodation also available.

The extensive sandy beach is a short walk from the park, making it easy to leave the van behind for a walk along the shore. Golfers have a links course next door, while a pub and restaurant within walking distance offer options for eating out without driving. The combination suits visitors who want to spend time around Machrihanish itself rather than head out on an excursion every day. Beach walks, golf and the area’s sunsets are as much a part of a stay here as exploring further along Kintyre.

Campbeltown adds whisky heritage to the itinerary. Springbank Distillery has occupied the same site since 1828, and its guided tour explains the whisky-making process, which is carried out entirely on site; advance booking is recommended. For a different interest, Machrihanish Seabird and Wildlife Observatory focuses on the coast’s birdlife, with information about sightings and help with identification. It offers a more focused introduction to local wildlife than simply watching from the beach.

About Machrihanish holiday Park
Self-declared as one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets and we might just have to agree, a short walk to a stunning sandy beach, a world class golf course next door and some truly stunning sunsets. This site offers both electric and non-electric hard standing and grass pitches with a communal toilet and shower block available for campers use. The beach is a short walk from the site where you will find an extensive sandy beach where swimming and water sports are possible. Along with campers and tents the site also has a veracity of glamping pods available for hire, some with hot tubs. A 2-mile drive away you will find the Cambeltown where you can submerge yourself into whisky history and tour Springbank Distillery and hear about the many many lost distilleries in the area. There is also a pub and restaurant within walking distance from the site.
