West Beach Caravan Park

West Beach Caravan Park sits beside the golden sands at Hopeman, looking out towards the Moray Firth on Scotland’s north-east coast. Tent and campervan pitches are scattered through the caravan park rather than occupying a separate camping field, and all pitches have electric hook-up. Four communal toilet and shower blocks serve the park, dogs are welcome, and glamping pods offer an alternative to bringing a tent. The beach is a central part of a stay here, with opportunities for wild swimming and water sports when sea and weather conditions allow.

Hopeman’s shops, pub and restaurants are a short walk from the site, making it straightforward to combine beach days with meals in the village. Its harbour divides the two beaches, while the colourful beach huts add character to the eastern shore. There is also a golf club at the eastern end of the village. For walkers, Hopeman lies on the Moray Coast Trail, with coastal sections towards Burghead and Lossiemouth. The coastline around Cove Bay, also known as Clashach Cove, offers a different landscape of cliffs, coves and caves; access varies, so these are places to explore with care rather than assume every inlet is readily reachable.

For a day away from the shore, Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin offers tours and tastings at a working whisky distillery. Its visitor centre also has a coffee shop serving light lunches and cakes, giving visitors another option alongside Hopeman’s coastal walks and beaches.
