Quick Read Campsite Summary

Rose View Camping And Caravan Park is a small, quiet site just outside Oban, with an emphasis on peaceful surroundings rather than a busy holiday-park atmosphere. It welcomes tents and campervans, with grass and hardstanding pitches arranged across different elevations, alongside glamping pods. Shared toilets and showers cover the essentials, and dogs are welcome. The layout is worth bearing in mind if you prefer a particular type of pitch or position within the site.

One of Rose View’s useful features is the option to leave your vehicle behind when heading into town. Allow around 30–45 minutes for the leisurely walk into central Oban using the scenic shortcut, or approximately 15 minutes by car. Oban brings a different pace, with seafood around the harbour, bars and restaurants, a railway station and ferry connections to the islands. Oban Distillery sits in the town centre and offers guided tours and whisky tastings; advance booking is recommended for tours, particularly during busy periods.

For a walk with a clear destination, head uphill from Oban town centre to McCaig’s Tower on Battery Hill. This granite folly and its gardens overlook the bay towards Kerrera, Lismore and Mull, giving a wider perspective on the coast beyond the harbour. The approach involves an uphill climb, so it is a different proposition from a waterfront stroll. For an island excursion, ferries connect Oban with Craignure on Mull; check sailing times and service updates before planning your day.
