Quick Read Campsite Summary

The sea and the island of Kerrera give Oban Caravan & Camping Park its character. This large waterfront site outside Oban has hardstanding pitches for campervans, several grassy tent areas and glamping pods for those travelling without their own accommodation. Views across the water are a particular draw, with waterfront tent pitches worth considering when that area is open. Shared facilities include toilets, showers and a washing-up area, while the shop stocks everyday necessities. Dogs are welcome, and booking is available online.

Oban town centre is a short drive away, or around 40 minutes on foot, with taxis another option for the return journey. Its restaurants, bars, distillery, railway station and ferry terminal make it useful for both evenings out and onward travel. For a walk in town, climb to McCaig’s Tower on Battery Hill, whose open arches overlook Oban Bay and the islands beyond. The esplanade offers a less strenuous way to explore the waterfront.

Kerrera is also an option for an island walking day, rather than simply a view from your pitch. The ferry departs from Gallanach, separate from Oban’s main ferry terminal. On the island, Gylen Castle’s ruined tower stands on a rocky promontory at the southern end; reaching it involves a walk, with a steep final approach to the ruins. Plan the outing around the ferry timetable rather than treating the castle as a quick stop.

About Oban Caravan & Camping Park
Large campsite set by the sea with fantastic views to the Island of Kerrera with hard standing pitches for campervans and several grassy areas for tents. The site also has some glamping pods available for rent, a communal toilet, shower and washing up area and a shop selling necessities. Oban is a short drive away, it is also possible to walk into the town centre by foot which will take around 40 minutes (a taxi service is also available for those who prefer not to walk). I highly recommend any campers with a tent to camp down by the water front if the area is open, you will get spectacular sunsets and stunning views out towards the Island of Kerrera. Within Oban you will find plenty of restaurants, bars, a distillery, ferry terminal to the Scottish Islands and a train terminal.
