Badrallach Campsite Bothy

Badrallach Campsite Bothy is a small, remote Highland site with grass pitches for tents and campervans, including four with electric hook-up. Its semi-wild character is balanced by practical comforts: campers have access to a bothy, hot showers and toilets. Dogs are welcome and campfires are permitted. This is a place for visitors who value a simple camping setting, hillwalking and evenings under dark skies; clear nights can reveal the Milky Way, although cloud and moonlight will determine what is visible.

Walking gives the surrounding landscape its shape. Beinn Ghobhlach rises to 635 metres on the peninsula between Loch Broom and Little Loch Broom, with an ascent from Badrallach involving rough ground and slopes without a clear path. It is a mountain outing rather than a casual campsite stroll, rewarding preparation and sound navigation. An Teallach adds a more demanding option to the wider area’s hillwalking possibilities.

For a lower-level day, the coastal path from the end of the Badrallach road leads towards Scoraig, a community without a road connection. The full out-and-back walk is approximately 16.5 kilometres, following Little Loch Broom with views towards Sàil Mhor and, on the return, the outlying peaks of An Teallach. Although generally well defined, the path has rocky, eroded sections and passes above steep drops. Scoraig’s scattered homes, wind turbines and relocated lighthouse give the walk a distinctive human story alongside the coastal scenery.
