Helpful Search Info

Most of the search criteria is self explanatory however to help clarify and make searching easier we have created this simple guide.

  1. Click on “Show/Hide Filters” to see the filter’s, Click “Reset Filters” to clear all active filters, once you select a filter the results at the bottom will automatically update and you can select as many filters at once as you wish.
  2. Scotland is split up into various different council areas (shown on the location map), you can search for campsites in a specific area by selecting the council area in “Location”
  3. In Campsite Setting”, River, Loch, Sandy beach etc means the campsite is located directly on one of these, if you are looking for a campsite that is walkable (30 mins) to a sandy beach then select the “Sandy Beach” filter in the “What’s Nearby” section.
  4. Multiple options for “Campsite Setting” can be selected, for example if you were looking for a campsite located on a beach, on an island but also near a town then you can select all three and you will be shown the results.
  5. “What’s Nearby” is determined by a reasonable walking distance of around 30 minutes from the campsite.
  6. In “Other”, bookable online means that the full booking process can be completed on the campsites webpage, semi-wild is a site with limited facilities (normally just a toilet) and a wild camping feel, our top picks are our personal favourite sites in Scotland.
  7. For “Routes” there are campsites on famous driving, walking or cycling routes, more info on each can be found on our essential info page.
  8. Bookable Online, for these we provide the link to the official campsite’s booking website, this is an external link and care should be taken when visiting as we are not liable for any actions outside of our website. We also do not take booking on behalf of campsites and we will never ask you for money.
