Quick Read Campsite Summary

Honey Cottage Caravan Park is a small riverside site in the Ettrick Valley, with touring pitches for caravans and campervans rather than tents. Grass and hardstanding pitches are available, some with electric hook-up, alongside a small toilet and shower block and an on-site shop. Dogs are welcome, and bookings can be made online. The River Ettrick runs beside the park, with trout and salmon fishing accessible directly from the site. For a drink away from your pitch, the Tushielaw Inn is around a 20-minute walk away.

Hill and forestry walks are among the reasons to explore this part of the Scottish Borders. For a more substantial outing, Grey Mare’s Tail Nature Reserve has a 60-metre waterfall tumbling into the Moffat Water Valley. From the reserve’s car park, a steep path climbs beside the gorge and continues to Loch Skeen, enclosed by rugged hills. The return walk to the loch is around three miles and is graded difficult, so it is a hill walk rather than a casual waterfall stroll. Peregrine falcons, ring ouzels and feral goats are among the wildlife to look out for on the reserve.

Mountain bikers can plan a separate day out in the Tweed Valley, where Glentress and Innerleithen are established 7stanes trail centres. Glentress offers routes ranging from green-graded introductory riding to demanding red and black trails, while Innerleithen’s cross-country and downhill terrain is aimed at experienced riders. Check trail notices before travelling, as closures and diversions can affect individual routes.

About Honey Cottage Caravan Park
Small caravan park located in the Ettrick Valley with serviced touring pitches for campervans (No Tents). The site offers grass and hard standing pitches some with electrical hook up, a small toilet and shower block and an onsite shop. The site is situated on the banks of River Ettrick and as such offers excellent trout and salmon fishing directly form the site. Locally there are plenty of hills and forestry walks to explore with some of Scotland’s best mountain biking terrain found close by. We highly recommend the hike up Grey Mare’s Trail which has one of the UK’s tallest freestanding waterfalls and is a sight to be seen (60M of cascading water). There are plenty of Golf courses to play (12 in totally within an hour drive of the park), lots of wildlife to spot (Peregrines, Osprey, Goshawk and Oyster Catchers, Badgers, Otters). The Tushielaw Inn is a 20 minute walk away where you can earn a well-deserved drink after a long day exploring the local hills.
