Glentress Forest Lodges

Glentress Forest Lodges is a large campsite beside the 7stanes mountain biking trails near Peebles in the Scottish Borders. Accommodation ranges from grass and hardstanding pitches for tents and campervans to glamping pods sleeping up to five people. Some pitches have electric hook-up, and dogs are welcome. Separate male and female toilet and shower facilities, a communal kitchen and a drying room for wet biking kit make the site particularly practical for outdoor trips. It opens year-round, giving visitors the choice of bringing their own camping set-up or staying in a pod.

Mountain biking is the main draw, with Glentress’s network ranging from an introductory green route to more demanding riding for experienced cyclists. The forest’s skills area includes graded sections for practising features such as berms and rollers before tackling the wider trails. Closures and diversions can affect individual sections, so the precise riding options may vary during a stay.

There is plenty to explore on foot, too. Within Glentress Forest, the Ponds Trail follows firm gravel paths around sheltered ponds among ash, birch and pine, while the Glen Trail continues beside Glentress Burn and through tall Douglas firs. These are forest routes rather than walks described as starting at the campsite. Go Ape adds another option for an active day, with treetop obstacles and zip wires above the woodland.
