Seal Shore Camping
Quick Read Campsite Summary
Seal Shore Camping is a small, quiet, family-run site at Kildonan on Arran’s southern coast, with uninterrupted sea views and Silver Sands beach beside it. Its character is firmly coastal: time here can be spent on the sand or watching the shoreline for wildlife, with seals and otters among the animals found around Kildonan, though sightings are never guaranteed. The village looks towards the little island of Pladda.
The campsite welcomes tents and campervans and also has glamping pods. Space is limited, so tents must be three-person size or smaller, an important consideration when choosing what to bring. Facilities include electric hook-ups, toilets and showers, a laundry room, a picnic area and a covered barbecue area. Dogs are welcome, and the hotel next door has a bar and restaurant, giving campers an alternative to cooking on site. Bookings are made by telephone or email rather than through online booking.
For a change from the shore, the Eas Mòr walk at Kildonan climbs through woodland beside a gorge to waterfall viewpoints. The route starts at the Eas Mòr Ecology Centre rather than the campsite, with an optional extension to Loch Garbad and a return past the Library in the Woods. Elsewhere on southern Arran, Lagg Distillery at Kilmory offers tours and tastings centred on its peated whisky, alongside a café and bar.
