For a walk directly from the campsite, the climb to Ruberslaw’s 424-metre summit is a distinctive local outing. The hill gives wide views across the Borders, taking in the Cheviots, Teviotdale and the Eildon Hills when visibility allows. Denholm also lies on the Borders Abbeys Way, a 68-mile regional walking circuit linking the ruined abbeys at Jedburgh, Kelso, Melrose and Dryburgh; visitors can explore individual sections rather than tackle the whole route. In Hawick, The Borders Distillery offers distiller-led tours inside a converted former electrical works, adding an indoor option to a stay centred on walking and camping.
