Reraig Caravan & Camping Skye sits at Balmacara on the mainland side of the Skye Bridge, close to Loch Alsh but not directly on its shore. The bridge and Kyle of Lochalsh are around ten minutes’ drive away, making the site a practical stopping point for exploring both Skye and the west coast. Despite the name, there is no need to cross onto the island to reach your pitch. Hardstanding and grass pitches cater for campervans and tents, with fully serviced pitches available. Toilets, showers and washing-up facilities cover the essentials, dogs are welcome, and a neighbouring hotel has a pub and restaurant.

For walking days, Balmacara Estate offers a varied alternative to driving between attractions. Its path network crosses crofting ground, woodland, moorland and open hillside. The Lochalsh Woodland Walks combine native trees with bamboo, rhododendrons and ferns, while the route from Balmacara Square towards Loch Achaidh na h-Inich explores the temperate rainforest of Coille Mhòr. Some paths are steep, narrow or rocky, so it is worth choosing a route to suit your experience rather than assuming these are all gentle woodland strolls.

Eilean Donan Castle at Dornie is another local outing, while Plockton lies around fifteen minutes’ drive north of the campsite. Together with access across the Skye Bridge, these give visitors a choice of village visits, historic sights and longer island excursions without moving camp each day.
