Invernahavon Caravan Site

Invernahavon Caravan Site is a large, open campsite just off the A9 near Newtonmore, within the Cairngorms National Park. Hardstanding pitches accommodate campervans, while a separate area of flat grass has room for up to 20 tents. Campers share a toilet, shower and washing-up block, and dogs are welcome. Online booking is available. The layout makes this a straightforward choice for visitors who want conventional camping facilities and access to the surrounding Highlands.

There are opportunities to explore on foot without first driving elsewhere. From the back of the park, a walk follows a stone dyke beside the River Truim towards its meeting with the Spey, with a return possible by the Glentruim road. Dogs should be kept on leads around livestock. In Glentruim, signposted woodland walks include a route to a viewpoint, offering another option for time away from the pitch.

Newtonmore combines walking with Highland history. Its Wildcat Trail circles the village through riverside ground, woodland and open moorland; connecting paths allow walkers to tackle sections rather than the whole circuit. Check the route information before setting out, as a diversion affects the Calder gorge section. The village’s Highland Folk Museum offers a different perspective on the landscape, with more than 35 historic buildings illustrating how Highland communities lived and worked from the 1700s to the mid-1900s. For a whisky-focused outing, Dalwhinnie Distillery is a short drive from the campsite.
