Haughton Holiday Park and Campsite
Quick Read Campsite Summary
Haughton Holiday Park and Campsite sits within the green grounds of Haughton Country Park and adjoining Murray Park, on the edge of Alford in Aberdeenshire. Its setting combines woodland walks on the doorstep with a short walk into the village for bars, restaurants, cafés and shops. Tent campers have a choice of 10 grass pitches with electric hook-up and 30 non-electric grass pitches, while campervans are catered for with 58 fully serviced hardstanding pitches, all with electric hook-up. Dogs are welcome.
Practical facilities include toilets, showers, an outdoor washing-up area and an indoor laundry. The site shop stocks everyday groceries, fresh bakery goods and camping equipment, while the on-site café serves coffee and cakes. A pizza van visits occasionally, with dates announced through the campsite’s Facebook page. These facilities make it possible to pick up essentials or have a café stop without heading into Alford.
The surrounding country park covers almost 40 hectares, with paths through birch woodland, heather beneath the trees and a riverside area beside the Don. Picnic tables and two children’s play areas belong to the wider park rather than the campsite itself. For a longer local stroll, a documented 5km circular walk starts in central Alford and explores the park’s woods and riverbank. In the village, Grampian Transport Museum offers a change of pace, with a changing collection exploring transport history across different eras; seasonal opening applies.
