Fidden Farm Campsite

Fidden Farm Campsite has a semi-wild, beachside character, with plenty of space for tents and campervans on open, partly rough grass. The shore is central to its appeal: white sand, clear water and rocky edges give visitors somewhere to wander without planning a full day out. Rock pools add interest along the beach, while the open layout keeps the emphasis on the coastal setting rather than neatly divided pitches.

Facilities are simple, with toilets, and dogs and campfires are permitted. The campsite operates without advance bookings and opens from 25 March to 30 September. For an excursion across the water, Fionnphort is the departure point for the public ferry to Iona; the campsite places Iona and Staffa boat-trip departures about a mile away. On Iona, the abbey is reached on foot from the ferry pier, making it a practical focus for a day spent exploring without a vehicle. Its restored church, high crosses and museum of early medieval carved stones tell the story of an island associated with St Columba since his arrival in AD 563. The surviving nunnery ruins offer another stop for those interested in the island’s religious history.
