Fancy Some Campervan Adventures?

A Guest blog by Caledonian Campers

We have been touring in campervans for most of our lives and definitely have the campervan bug.  We love the freedom to travel and the flexibility it offers, particularly with the family, including our four-legged friend!   It’s great for taking off for a day trip to the beach or for travelling further afield for a longer holiday.

We know a lot about vans and campervan adventures and what makes the perfect campervan.  It’s not just all about cool images on Instagram.  The experience can be amazing!  However there is always the opportunity for some spectacular photographs when you park up in a spot with a view.  We enjoy getting a few of our family and friends together on a summer evening, find the perfect spot and unload the table and chairs for some delicious food cooked in the van or on the BBQ.

We prefer VW campervans to motorhomes especially for adventures in Scotland.   It’s definitely easier to reverse a campervan down a single track road with passing places!  Motorhomes are a great option in some ways however we prefer the campervan for ease and flexibility.  Ever tackled the Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) in a motorhome on a busy August weekend?  If you have, then you know what we mean!  The campervan is perfect if you love the outdoors and want to go into a remote spot for some hill walking, cycling, photography and fishing.  Scotland is full of amazing campsites and wild spots for you to enjoy on your campervan adventure.

Where to park up and camp

Have you just purchased or had your van converted by Caledonian Campers and looking for an easy way to find that perfect campsite?

Our friends at Camping Scotland (https://campingscotland.com/) have a comprehensive list of over 200 reliable sites in Scotland to choose from and easy to use filters helping you find that perfect pitch.  The filters on the Campsite Finder “https://campingscotland.com/campsite-finder https://campingscotland.com/campsite-finder range from general campsite facilities, the setting, what’s nearby, driving routes and many more and you can view the results in a listing or a map. If you’re looking for a campsite that accepts campervans, located on a sandy beach, with a pub within walking distance and on an island then using the filters you can find that perfect site.

The website also has a handy essential info page to help you plan routes to the most remote islands and a whisky camping section (https://campingscotland.com/plan-a-whisky-camping-trip/) to help you organise the perfect whisky camping adventure.  There is a also a map showing campsites close by your favourite distilleries and visitor centres.

There are some of our most famous driving routes on there too.  You can select the filter for the North Coast 500 or the North East 250 and see all the campsites along the way. Then for more info on the routes head over to the essential info page where you will find all the details you need on planning your campervan adventure.

The team at Camping Scotland are continually reviewing and updating campsites and their relevant information so expect the list to grow over time. The website aims to provide campers a clean, simple and modern campsite directory linking campers up with their perfect site.

Many of our customers choose to get on the road in one of our campervans to relax and capture the breath taking scenery, enjoy the wildlife, culture and history of Scotland.  Others are looking for some awesome outdoor adventures and there are certainly some fantastic options and sit back and have a dram at the end of the day.
